Dominick’s Real Italian is serving up high quality pizza, and American-Italian style food in a comfortable atmosphere with fast friendly service.
Growing up on the Northwest side of Tucson, pizza options were mostly limited to chain pizza . A Grandma Tony’s Pizzeria came and went. Peter Piper Pizza was the staple for weeknight pizza or the occasional kids party on the weekend. The Northwest pizza scene still isn’t great but, I was happy to find Dominick’s Real Italian delivering on taste quality.
Dominick’s Real Italian is bringing classic American-Italian food to the area. The menu is large. Apps, soups, salads, calzones, seafood, pasta, and of course, my favorite carb, pizza. The dinning room is inviting and the staff is so friendly. Portions are hearty and prepared with care. In the our past dining experience here, we came for larger entrees. If you’re not feeling pizza (does that happen?) I recommend the chicken piccata and linguine and clams. Meatballs and calamari will do the trick for an appetizer if you’re seeking something more than complementary garlic knots.
The 16″ pizza was more than enough for us to share, filling without giving you that overstuffed feeling.
The breakdown:
Crust: Thicker crust, that is tender. A generous amount of chew, without feeling overworked.
Toppings: Dominick’s offers a good selection of toppings. They also have a handful of specialty pies with various topping combinations. Looking for toppings that felt summery and satisfying, we settled on an artichoke heart and Italian Sausage. Not something we’ve tried before, but would absolutely try again.
Sauce: Nothing out of the ordinary here, but as any good sauce, ties the whole pie together.
Overall, Dominick’s Real Italian is satisfying with quality ingredients. While pizza may not be he focus of the menu, they certainly prepare it with care. 🍕🍕🍕.5 out 5 slices.
