Eight years after the first MOD Pizza opened in Seattle, Tucson got its first location. We stopped in at this location, the day of its grand opening. Like other quick-fire pizza places, their menu has close to a dozen pizza creations, that are their specialties, but the beauty of these pizza establishments, is the variety of toppings available. Whatever your pizza whim, you would be able to order it. The thing that I liked about MOD, is that they offer more than one size of pizza. A 6″ personal, and a larger 11″.
MOD is very reasonably priced, and the service is super friendly and fast, as one would expect.
Crust: Previous to this. Fired Pie was the top crust on my quick-fired pie list. MOD overtakes Fired Pie. It crisps up nicely, and although everyone might not be a fan of them, I did enjoy the bubbles that abound on this crust. Great texture and chew all around.
Sauce: A reasonable acidity, with a slight sweetness blended well with the crust and toppings.
Toppings: Rather than opting from one of the 10 topping combinations, and longing to recreate the tastiness of last week’s pizza, I opted for a pepperoni and sausage pizza, with the added bonus ingredient of roasted garlic. This trio was a power packed with flavor. The roasted garlic added a nice sweetness to the spice of the sausage and pepperoni.
Giving MOD a pretty robust 🍕🍕🍕 3/4 out of 5 slices. It’s fast, affordable, and flavorful. In terms of quick fired pizzas, this is for sure my new go-to. They also have a pretty tasty drink selection, including Boylan Birch Beer – a great root beer beverage to wash down this tasty personal pie.
